The success of ELA Honor Society programs is down to its volunteer Chapter Advisors who lead local chapters with great success.
Besides providing a strong link among the administration, faculty, and students, Chapter Advisors are also the link between the chapter and the ELA Central Office. Chapter Advisors are also responsible for the direct supervision of their chapter, the handling of financial transactions, and the updating and filing of chapter bylaws and the annual activities report.
Chapter Advisors, by virtue of the position, are honorary ELA Honor Society members (gratis) and should be good role models for chapter members and good leadership models for chapter officers. The role of Chapter Advisor for the ELA Honor Society distinguishes teachers and is a strong addition to any resume.
As a thank you for all the hard work our Chapter Advisors do, we offer them a package of benefits including Classroom Library Grants and Professional Support Grants. We aim to expand this offering as quickly as possible.
Other Opportunities to Volunteer
Chapter Advisors and other supporters of the ELA Honor Society can opt to volunteer further by evaluating student Writing Challenges. Volunteers ensure students receive the best possible evaluation of their work. It is also a wonderful opportunity to read high quality creative submissions by our student members.
