The English Language Arts Honor Society recognizes outstanding and diverse achievement by engaging students in grades 6-9 and their teachers in the valuable experiences fostering literacy, studying literature, and using their skills to impact their community.

We believe that the citizens of tomorrow need highly developed language and communications skills. Our collaborative and student-led program prepares students for their future—no matter how they decide to apply their ELA experiences—in an environment that fosters excitement for language, literature, and literacy.

ELA Enhances and amplifies the English Language Arts:

We're not just about books; our program includes creative writing opportunities and community service projects. We demonstrate how success in the language arts means success in all areas of life.

ELA develops students' interdisciplinary skills:

Participating students develop leadership skills, explore potential career paths, and become involved in their communities. They develop transferable skills that go beyond textbooks and into the wider world.

ELA empowers teachers and benefits schools:

Our support for teachers by providing professional development opportunities and resource grants reignites excitement and enthusiasm for teaching, improving outcomes for schools and students.

ELA is diverse and inclusive, providing opportunities for all:

All students interested in English are welcome here. ELA fosters diverse interests, celebrates differences, meeting students where they are at, and empowers them to share their voices.
