Exciting upcoming awards celebrate the achievements of students, chapters, and Chapter Advisors. Submissions open April 7 – 21, 2025—do not miss your chance to shine! Read on to discover how you can get involved.

Zine Creative Challenge for Student Members

Zines are independently made magazines featuring diverse content like stories, poems, fanfiction, and artwork, often with small circulations and aimed at niche audiences. Students will create an eight-page zine, including a cover and seven pages of varied content, based on the plot, characters, and themes of the ELA Big Read, Aneesa Marufu’s The Balloon Thief, or another thought-provoking text. Learn more about the Zine Creative Challenge for Student Members.

Chapter Showcase

The ELA Honor Society Chapter Showcase program recognizes the best chapter projects from those submitted across various categories. All submissions to the Chapter Showcase are considered for the Chapter Showcase Award at the end of the school year. The judging committee considers student motivation/creativity and quality of service/level of impact when making final decisions. Find out more about the Chapter Showcase.

Professional Support Grants for Chapter Advisors

The ELA Honor Society offers Professional Support Grants to help Chapter Advisors enhance their teaching practice. These grants provide financial support for educators seeking to deepen their knowledge and skills in English Language Arts and related fields, benefiting both their students and their chapters.
