Twice a year, the ELA Honor Society Chapter Showcase program recognizes the best student-led community projects. All submissions to the Chapter Showcase are considered for the Chapter Showcase Award at the end of the school year. The judging committee considers student motivation and creativity, and quality of service and level of impact when making final decisions.
Chapter Advisors can submit examples of student-led community work in any of the following categories between January 29 and February 12, 2024.
Academic Focus
These projects establish or maintain a project focused on supporting the academic development of a target audience within schools or local communities.
Community Engagement
These projects see chapters focus their work on promoting life-long learning and the celebration of reading, writing, film, and the arts in their local community.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
These projects promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in various forms within schools or local communities. This category could include activities suggested in the Chapter Planning calendar.
Collaborative Projects
These projects are undertaken with other chapters and should impact both schools and/or local communities.
