On-Demand Video Resources

The ELA Honor Society works closely with the National English Honor Society and Sigma Tau Delta to provide opportunities for students to meet (virtually) and interact with authors working in a variety of genres and from a wide range of geographic locations.

All student members can register to participate in these live sessions, but the ELA Honor Society also makes the recordings available to Chapter Advisors and student members as on-demand resources.

US Poet Laureate Ada Limón joined us to discuss her latest anthology, The Hurting Kind (2022), her role as the 24th US Poet Laureate, her belief that “poetry is elemental, necessary, & deeply human,” and answered student questions. Ada Limón is the author of six books of poetry, including The Carrying, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. Limón was also the host of the critically acclaimed poetry podcast, The Slowdown. Watch the on-demand video here.

Australian author Kayte Nunn discussed the themes, characters, and inspiration behind her award-winning novel The Botanist’s Daughter. Kayte also responded to student questions about her book. The Botanist’s Daughter is one of four works of historical fiction written by Nunn and won the 2020 Winston Graham Historical Fiction Prize. Rose’s Vintage and Angel’s Share are both contemporary love stories, set in the lush vineyards of the imaginary Shingle Valley. Her latest novel, The Only Child, is a contemporary-historical crime mystery.
