Chapter Advisors know how powerful it can be when students find books they love. The 2026-2027 National Book Foundation Teacher Fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to expand that impact through funding, professional learning, and national recognition.
This fellowship supports US-based 6th–12th grade classroom teachers who promote reading for pleasure and connect students with outstanding literature, including National Book Award–honored titles. Fellows receive a $3,000 stipend, a $2,000 book budget, and join a collaborative professional learning community, with an in-person convening in New York City in May or June.
Fellows design or continue a classroom-based reading initiative, participate in virtual meetings during the year, and share their work with a national cohort of educators.
Applications must be submitted via Submittable by Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST. If you’re a passionate ELA Honor Society Chapter Advisor and classroom teacher, this is a powerful way to deepen your students’ love of reading and strengthen your leadership in literacy.
